METHOD STATEMENT OF PILE DRIVING
TEST PILE
Building Lay out setting :
Based on BM the building lay out shall be settled.
Marking the position of pile :
After building lay out has been approved by the Engineer, position of pile shall start based on grid line of each building.
The position of pile shall be marked with rebar D 13 or d 10, L=50 cm and top of rebar is marked by plastic rope for easy to find out the rebar when the pile position shall be rechecked before start drive of pile.
Deciding of test pile :
Test pile (indicator pile) shall be executed at least four corner and the center of the building as stipulated by Structure Engineer, drawing to determine and confirm the actual length prior to the commencement of the whole piling work.
Driving procedure :
After the location of test pile has been approved, drive of pile shall start.
The pile should be set down exactly at the designed position on the ground, recheck the point of pile is necessary before starting drive the pile. The allowable movement is maximum 10 cm from the center of point or ¼ diameter of pile.
The rig shall standing on the flat solid ground with steel plate and directed to the point. By wire rope, the pile is tied up, pulled, and directed to the cap of hammer and the bottom of pile is directed to the point.
The hammer should be selected in accordance with the outer diameter, length, weight, strength of pile and also the soil conditions. A heavier hammer is apt to destroy the piles and lighter hammer will cause inefficiency and excessive ram stroke which may break the pile head. The proper selection of hammer is essential.
The pile helmet should be made of steel or cast steel and equipped with a cushion. It should ensure a uniform transmission of driving energy from the hammer to the pile and have such a structure that its center coincides with that of the pile.
The vertical of pile should be checked from two angle by guidance and should be keep the vertical position when the pile driving operation. The allowable inclination for pile driving is less than 1/100.
The driving work should be continued to the recommended depth or the required Bearing Capacity. When pile bottom reached hard layer before reaching the recommended length, the pile shall be driven into the hard layer to penetrate at least 50 cm.
Using dolly is recommended if the pile is not enough but close to the recommended depth or the required Bearing Capacity.
Piling record :
After drive of pile has been finished, pilling record shall be made immediately and submit to the Engineer for getting approval and to determine and confirm the actual pile length prior to the commencement of the whole pilling work for each building.
